spaceseer An incredibly powerful and perfectly-executed conceptual epic, limitless and unlike anything I've ever heard before. The First Age deserves to be seated at the round table of prog epics such as Close to the Edge and Dark Side of the Moon. Favorite track: Through the Darkness of Future Past.

Drudkh77 This is an amazing album. Collects the heart of medieval, dungeon and dark synth with epic sounds.
Love it!

Kaptain Carbon The First Age is a new narrative centered around an individual finding the Tomes which made up Erangs first four albums. This with a bold mesh of different styles makes The First Age a new chapter in Erang’s storytelling which also has footnotes to previous sections. From the liner notes, this proposes to be Erang's last record as we know the artist and if this is true, then I am glad I have been along for this wild trip. Favorite track: All Kings Must Die.

about

" In 1982, Louis Leroy, a young librarian from New Orleans, finds by chance the Tome II.

He starts to obsessively read it as the magic of the book impregnates him.

2 years later, in 1984, after endlessly trying to decipher the mysteries of this book, he succeeds and finds the Tome III.

It takes him 2 more years (and almost the loss of his sanity) to find the last and ultimate Tome IV, in 1986. Apparently, the first Tome I is lost forever...

The same year, September the 5th, the landlady of the small motel where Louis Leroy had a room during several weeks, tells the police that Mr Leroy left without paying the rent and after completely vandalized the room: the desk is totally burnt as the carpet all around it.

On the ground, his typewriter is melted with the wood of the desk in a grotesque shape… "

about

Erang France

Pioneer in the revival of Dungeon Synth since 2012, I'm mostly inspired by my own nostalgia about places, people and events of my past, forever lost…

My music is very intimate & influenced by books (the Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, the Silmarillion), old fantasy movies (Willow, Conan, Dark Crystal, etc.) and role-playing games from my childhood (tabletop & video games : Zelda, Secret Of Mana, etc.).
